大阳城集团99aa’s degree options in Biology is designed to prepare students for graduate or professional studies, as well as for entering the job market. Students can elect to specialize in Environmental Science, 海洋生物学, Pre-Health Careers(Dentistry, 医学, 验光, 等.), or Pre-Health Career Prerequisites (Pre-Dental, Hygiene, Pre-Nursing).

The Department of Biology is an integral component in the vibrant and esteemed College of Science, 工程, and Technology at 大阳城集团99aa， the urban university of Mississippi. Designated by the Carnegie Foundation as a research-intensive university, 大阳城集团99aa， offers Biology to study the basic science of life and the foundation of life science studies. Courses in Biology serve as stepping stones for students preparing for careers in basic science research, 医学, 牙科, 药店, 生物技术, environmental and marine sciences, in addition to many health-related disciplines and professions.
JSU Biology students have an opportunity to apply for a research position with JSUCURE, 大阳城集团99aa Course-based Undergraduate 研究 Experience Program. This is an undergraduate program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) designed to enhance the undergraduate STEM education offerings in the JSU 生物学系， 反过来, better equip and prepare our underrepresented students for entrance into STEM-related professional careers.

For consideration, eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a US Citizen or permanent resident
- 就读于JSU生物专业
- Be rising sophomores and/or juniors
- 平均成绩不低于3分.0或更高(4).0 GPA Scale) with all first year science courses completed (BIO 111/BIOL 111, BIO 112/BIOL 112)
- Committed to entire program (both the academic year and mentored research during the summer)
- Submit one letter of recommendation
- Previous research experience not required
- Complete an online application and submit all supporting documentation

- Students must have one letter of recommendation submitted on their behalf. The recommendation must be completed by a professor or research mentor in the College of Science, 工程, and Technology at 大阳城集团99aa who can give insight to the potential success of the applicant in the Program. {推荐信}
